Daily Reading~ The Devil with a 6 of Pentacles Pop Out
Over the years I have fallen in and out of my love affair with the Tarot. Yet, I realize that even when I put the cards aside, they are always with me, and for the most part my studies are forever deepening my understanding with the cards...
Today for the daily card reading I broke out what I consider to be my darkest (for lack of a better word) deck: Deviant Moon Tarot. In fact, this deck was purchased intuitively when I was at the bookstore a few years ago, during a period when I was not intensely studying the cards. I got this deck because it popped out at me, brought it home, flipped through the cards, and then placed the deck aside because it scared me. However, I knew that the cards were meant to be with me, I understood I had put them aside for a future time.
Over the years I have come to this deck now and again, looking at the images. Appreciating the art. But, never doing an actual reading with the cards. Today, I have been reflecting on the fact that the wheel of the year is turning as we head into the Vernal Equinox on September 22nd. This is the time where we come into perfect balance, and then head into the fall. Mythically, this is the time where the sun falls below into the underworld, after it is judged by the scales of Libra. And when Persephone must begin her descent into Hades.
As we head into darker part of the year, I felt it was time to read with one of my most beautiful and also my darkest of Tarots. Reviews of the Deviant Moon Tarot reveal that I am not the only one who had to confront the macabre world that this deck has you delving into. So, today I picked up these cards and did a reading...
The card I drew was the devil and then out popped the 6 of pentacles. The message of this reading was apparent right away. For me this reading meant that I should be happy that I am standing on my own, for when you accept hand outs from the devil you might get burned.
